Five-day Induction Training for newly recruited PGTs to enhance professional competency

A five-day induction training programme aimed at strengthening the professional competencies of newly recruited Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in Economics and Political Science began on Monday at IMAGE, Siripur, Bhubaneswar. The training is being conducted for PGTs working in Non-Government Aided Higher Secondary Schools under the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha.
A total of 90 PGT teachers are participating in the programme.
Key sessions during the training will cover the Odisha Career Portal, DHSE website, classroom management, professional development of teachers, pedagogical techniques, and group activities on various important themes. The schedule also includes detailed guidance on procedures related to SAMS, Sikhyajyoti Portal, Career Guidance website, Vocational Education, Scholarship processes, along with sessions on personal nutrition and health essential for fostering a healthy classroom environment.
The inaugural session was graced by Niyati Pattnaik, Director, DHSE, with Snigdha Mishra, Joint Director, DHSE, coordinating the programme. Jitendra Nayak, Deputy Director, DHSE, and Dr. Umakanta Sethy, OIC, SAMS, were also present on the occasion. Ch.Vijaylaxmi, Deputy Director, DHSE, delivered the vote of thanks.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Director, DHSE, stressed the importance of value-based education to ensure holistic development and character building among students. Joint Director Snigdha Mishra provided an overview of the five-day programme and highlighted its objectives.
On this occasion, a training report booklet from an earlier conducted five-day programme was also released. The initiative underscores the state government’s continued commitment to strengthening educator capacity and aligning Odisha’s school education system with on-going educational reforms.
