FOUR FAKE MAOISTS ARRESTED
Rayagada (13/12/2023): Four persons, including two women, for allegedly threatening a man by posing as Maoists and trying to extort money from him at Doraguda area in Rayagada district.
The arrest was made on the basis on a complaint lodged by one Paramananda Nayak.
In his complaint filed on December 3 at Doraguda police station, Nayak alleged that the four accused, claiming to be a Maoists, sent a letter to him demanding to Rs 60 lakh. As there was no response from Nayak, two persons including a woman came to his house on December 4.
The woman allegedly threated Nayak with life if the money was not deposited in the bank account.
The duo came to Nayak's house and gave him a letter on Maoist letterhead.
When he asked for their identities they fled the spot.
The letter claimed to be Maoists and demanded Rs 60 lakh.
After investigation into the matter the police arrested the accused, seized four mobile phones and two letters in Maoist letterhead.
