MOU SIGNED BETWEEN CSIR-IMMT BHUBANESWAR & GSI KOLKATA FOR RESEARCH WORK ON CRITICAL MINERALS LOW-GRADE ORES
Bhubaneswar (13/03/2024): An MoU has been signed between CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar and GSI, Kolkata for the research work on critical minerals from various low-grade ores of India. In recent times demand for critical minerals has increased tremendously and is the prime factor influencing the geopolitical scenario of the world.
In line with this, CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar has signed an MoU with the Geological Society of India (GSI), Kolkata to work on developing technologies for the recovery of critical minerals from the Indian deposits.
The MoU was signed by Dr.Ramanuj Narayan, Director CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, and D.V.Ganvir, Deputy Director General, GSI in the presence of Shri Janardan Prasad, Director General GSI, Kolkata.
In the meeting organized at GSI, Kolkata, Dr.Ramanuj Narayan opined that this sort of activity falls into the scope of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative announced by the Prime Minister.
Janardan Prasad expressed his contentment over the recovery of critical & strategic mineral values.
Further, Dr.Rananuj Narayan and Janardan Prasad expressed their interest in pursuing joint R&D projects, of National Importance, in the near future.
The meeting was also attended by Dr.D.S.Rao, Dr.Kali Sanjay, Dr.Prabhas Beuria, Dr.Santosh Behera, and Dr.Shivakumar Angadi.
