Odisha enhances monthly remuneration of Gram Rakhis
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Odisha government has enhanced the monthly remuneration of Gram Rakhis working in rural areas of the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved the proposal to increase their honorarium from Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,500 per month.
The decision has been taken in recognition of the role played by Gram Rakhis in maintaining peace and order at the village level.
In addition to the revised remuneration, the state government has introduced a system of regular attendance.
As per the new arrangement, Gram Rakhis will be required to report once a week at the police station under whose jurisdiction they are deployed and mark their attendance.
