Odisha Health department fully prepared for HMPV: Public Health Director

Bhubaneswar(07/01/2025): The Odisha Health department is fully prepared to tackle the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), said Director of Public Health Nilakantha Mishra. According to Mishra, testing is currently underway at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

If needed, more testing centers will be set up.

However, there is no such emergency situation at present. HMPV is not a new virus, it was first detected in 2001.

It is a seasonal virus, so there is no need to panic, Mishra advised.
