Odisha Inter-University Sports and Games Competition Held: Fakir Mohan University Men’s Volleyball Team Crowned Champions

Balasore, 22/04 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty) — From April 16 to 20, the Odisha Inter-University Sports and Games Competition was hosted by Dharanidhar University, where students (both men and women) from Fakir Mohan University participated in various individual and team events.

In this competition, the men’s volleyball team of Fakir Mohan University brought glory to their institution by emerging as champions.

According to sources, the university’s men’s volleyball team defeated Ravenshaw University in the quarter-finals and Utkal University in the semi-finals. In the final match, they triumphed over Sambalpur University with a score of 3-1 and were declared champions.

Fakir Mohan University also achieved notable victories in other games and sports during the competition. In chess, the university secured first place in the women's category and second place in the men's. In football, both the men's and women's teams secured third place. In cricket, the men’s team stood third while the women’s team came second. The women’s volleyball and kabaddi teams both bagged third place. In hockey, both men’s and women’s teams achieved third place. The women’s badminton team secured third position, as did both men’s and women’s teams in table tennis and carrom, winning accolades for the university.

The Vice-Chancellor of Fakir Mohan University, Professor Santosh Kumar Tripathy, congratulated all the students on their glorious achievements and expressed hope for continued success in the field of sports and games in the future. He also appreciated the cooperation and tireless efforts of the Director of the Sports Council, Dr. Pabitra Mohan Nayak, Deputy Director Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma, and PIO Sangram Bishoi. Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar Kukumina Das, and Chairman of the Postgraduate Council Professor Bhaskar Behera extended their best wishes and praised their contributions.
