ODISHA SRC PUTS COLLECTORS ON ALERT IN VIEW OF POSSIBLE CYCLONIC STORM
Bhubaneswar (23/10/2023): In view of the possible cyclonic storm over Bay of Bengal, the Special Relief Commissioner has advised the district collectors to remain alert. The SRC said that the deep depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next six hours. Once the cyclone is formed, it will be known as Hamoon.
It is very likely to move nearly north-northeastwards and cross Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around October 25 evening as deep depression. According to an advisory issued by the SRC, in urban areas, low lying areas may have waterlogging, and roads/drains may be submerged under water.
In case of very heavy rain, people in low lying areas may be shifted to safer locations temporarily.
