Odisha's iconic Konark Sun Temple turned blue on October 4 in support of Smile Trains Guinness World Records attempt for World Smile Day
Puri(05/10/2024) : Smile Train India, the India's largest cleft-focused organization, celebrated World Smile Day® by lighting up several heritage sites across India including Odisha's Konark Sun Temple, as part of their attempt to secure a new Guinness World Records title.
This initiative was a key highlight of Smile Trains 25th anniversary celebrations and aimed to raise awareness about clefts and the life-changing care provided by Smile Train to cleft-affected children globally. Mamta Carroll, Smile Trains Senior Vice President and Regional Director for Asia, expressed her gratitude, stating, “It was truly inspiring to witness such a magnificent landmark in Odisha lit up in support of children born with clefts.
Every ray of light symbolized hope and the transformative power of cleft surgery.
Through this initiative, we highlighted the challenges faced by children with clefts and encouraged more people to support their journey toward a brighter future." Talking about this Dr Subrat Jena, Chairman and Plastic Surgeon at Smile Train Partner Ashwini Hospital said, "We are delighted to be a part of this unique global initiative to light up this historic landmark for cleft awareness.
