Odisha's Satya Sutar to pay tribute to Netaji on Japanese soil

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): An Odia youth is set to pay floral tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the historic Renkōji Temple in Tokyo, Japan.

Continuing his annual tradition, Satya Sutar will offer his homage on the occasion of the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He will place a floral wreath at Netaji’s statue located within the Renkōji Temple and pay his respects.

Every year on the occasion of Netaji Jayanti, Sutar has been actively promoting and spreading the glorious legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose across the world.
In 2022, Sutar paid tribute to Netaji in Saigon, Vietnam. In 2023, he offered homage in front of the Royal Hotel in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. In 2024, he paid his respects at Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and in 2025, he paid a grand tribute on the sacred soil of Moirang in Imphal, Manipur.

According to information, Japan—and Tokyo in particular—shares a deep historical connection with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. During the Second World War, Netaji came to Japan to assume leadership of the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army).

It is widely believed that his ashes are preserved at the Renkōji Temple in Tokyo. Following the plane crash in Taiwan on August 18, 1945, his mortal remains were brought to Tokyo and placed at the Renkōji Temple on September 14, 1945.
