Pandit Gopal Chandra Panda, a luminary in the world of Odia Classical vocal music, was born on June 17, 1940, in the enchanting town of Ramakrusnapura, Bhadrak, Odisha. His journey through the melodious realms of Odissi music would later earn him accolades and recognition that would resonate through time.

Pandit Gopal Chandra Panda's musical odyssey commenced under the tutelage of his father, the gifted Sri Nilamani Panda, and his elder brother, Sri Nandakishore Panda, who nurtured his early musical aspirations. As he embarked on his quest for mastery, he sought guidance from revered Gurus, including the eminent Guru Damodar Panda and the venerable Adiguru Singhari Shyamsundar Kar, whose wisdom and expertise enriched his musical soul.

In 1972, Pandit Gopal Chandra Panda took on a new role as a lecturer at the prestigious Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. For over a quarter of a century, he shared his profound knowledge and passion for Odissi music with eager minds, leaving an indelible mark on the institution and his students. His dedication to the art form culminated in his leadership as the head of the Odissi music department from 1984 to 1998, where he nurtured the talents of countless aspiring musicians.
