Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Scam: CM orders CBI Probe

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has decided to hand over the investigation of the much-discussed Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The Odisha Police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination had faced serious allegations of large-scale irregularities and corruption. Initially, the investigation was being carried out by the Crime Branch (CID). 

Preliminary findings revealed that the scam might have links spreading beyond Odisha, possibly involving networks in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and other states.

Authorities also suspect the involvement of inter-state organized criminal gangs.

Taking all these aspects into consideration, the Chief Minister has ordered that the investigation be transferred to the CBI to ensure a thorough probe. The move aims to bring all those involved in the corruption under the purview of law and ensure exemplary punishment for the offenders.

Additionally, the state government is considering the establishment of a Permanent Commission for the recruitment of personnel into the police and other uniformed services to ensure transparency and efficiency in the future selection process.
