Puri Airport will become spiritual and cultural gateway for millions of Jagannath devotees across the globe, said Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Eastern Region Civil Aviation Ministers’ Conference held in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The Chief Minister announced that in the Cadet Pilot Program, Odia tribal girls will be given exclusive training to become pilots.
The Chief Minister said, "A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Air Works; a modern MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facility will be established at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.

In the past 14 months, Odisha’s airports have been connected with 15 new destinations."
The CM highlighted that facilities for flight training, UAV (drone) training, and air sports will be provided at the airports.
A world-class aviation training center will be constructed at Birasal in Dhenkanal, he added.
At the conference, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu assured all necessary support will be provided for the development of Odisha’s aviation infrastructure.
