Scuffle ensues between BJD workers, police in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Tension ran high at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar a scuffle ensued between the BJD workers and police on Tuesday. Thousands of BJD leaders, workers, sarpanches, block chairpersons, and district council chairpersons staged a protest alleging that the curtailment of powers of the representatives under Panchayati Raj system.
During the protest, agitators broke two barricades set up in front of the Assembly and attempted to break the third one, prompting police intervention. As protesters remained adamant, a clash broke out between them and the police. Later, police used water cannons to disperse the BJD workers.
Senior party leader Sanjay Das Burma joined the protest and said that the agitation will be intensified in the days to come.
