24th Reunion 'Milan 2025' Celebrated by Balasore Zilla School Alumni Association
Balasore, February 1 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The role of alumni is as important as that of teachers and students in introducing innovation in the present education system and ensuring qualitative development through academic reforms in schools, observed the speakers.
The Alumni Association of Balasore Zilla School, the oldest school in the district which has entered its 171st year, celebrated its 24th annual reunion, Milan 2025, on the school premises.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of the Association President Dr Surendra Nath Sahu. Alumnus and Managing Director of WATCO, Er Debabrata, inaugurated the function as the chief guest. Distinguished guests included alumnus and Senior Superintendent of Police at Odisha Police Headquarters Tarun Kumar Das, alumnus and Managing Director of Hariplast Sangram Das, and Chief Advisor of the Association and Acting Headmaster of Balasore Zilla School Adikanda Raut. Executive President Rajesh Kumar Giri, General Secretary Shyamsundar Mahanti, and Vice-President Arbind Pal were present on the dais. Vice-President Er Abhisek Mahapatra invited the guests to the stage, while Advisor Dr Shantanu Das introduced them.
On the occasion, the invited guests congratulated the students of Balasore Zilla School and remarked that the institution has played a vital role in nation-building by nurturing generations of responsible citizens. Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary Shyamsundar Mahanti said that Balasore Zilla School has produced many eminent personalities, including the present Sadar MLA Manas Kumar Dutta, along with several politicians, social workers, doctors, actors, and noted orators.
During the programme, Ankita Lenka, Shubham Bindhani, Sai Krishna Raut, Pritam Das, Priyanshu Nayak, and Jyotishman Raut were honoured with the Bidyarthi Gaurav Samman for their outstanding academic performance.
Former teacher Nrusingha Charan Nayak was felicitated with the Guru Gaurav Samman, while alumnus and senior paediatric specialist Dr Rashmikanta Jatania was also honoured with a citation.
The programme concluded with cultural performances of dance and music presented by the students of Balasore Zilla School.
The event was successfully organised with the active cooperation and support of all alumni.
