World Diabetes Day Observed in Balasore with Support of Zilla Swasthya Samiti (ZSS)

Balasore, 15/11 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): A World Diabetes Day 2025 awareness meeting was held at the conference hall of the District Health Office, supported by the Zilla Swasthya Samiti (ZSS), Balasore.

This year’s theme was “Diabetes and Well-being.” The meeting was chaired by Dr. Prabhat Kumar Behera, Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer. Group Health Supervisors from various Ayushman Arogya Kendras and trainees from the District Female Health Worker Training Centre attended.

In his address, Dr. Behera stressed the importance of recognising 3P (frequent urination, excessive thirst, excessive hunger) and following 3D (disciplined lifestyle, balanced diet, medication). He said regular blood tests and discussions at the community level for all individuals above 30 years can help prevent the disease.

Dr. Manoj Sahu explained the sugar content in various food items and advised reducing the intake of rice and chapati, and increasing the consumption of green vegetables, leafy greens and salads.

Dr. Surya Prakash Raut highlighted the need to follow A-B-C-D (Awareness, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Drugs) along with stress management.

During the meeting, Dr. Pradeep Kar (District Public Health Officer), Dr. Basanta Kumar Upadhyaya and Dr. Sanjib Kumar Pradhan shared their views on diabetes awareness and preventive measures. Instructions were given to strengthen community-level awareness on non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Pradeep Kumar Sahu, District Communication Officer (in-charge). Non-Communicable Disease Consultant Mousumi Samal offered the vote of thanks.
