Balasore, 15/11 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): A district-level training programme on the legal provisions meant to protect women from dowry-related harassment was held today at the Grievance Cell of the District Collector’s office.

Organised by the District Social Welfare Office, the programme focused on the measures adopted by the government to ensure women’s safety and secure living conditions. Chairing the session, Additional District Magistrate Sudhakar Naik highlighted the various initiatives of the State Government on women’s empowerment, with special emphasis on the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Anita Mangaraj attended as the subject expert. District Social Welfare Officer Jyotsna Mohanty conducted the programme. Officials from DLSA, ICDS Officer Swapna Praharaj, officers of all Child Development Projects, Panchayat Executive Officers, staff of SAKHI One Stop Centre, Shakti Sadan, DHEW and representatives from other departments participated in the training.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Protection Officer Juthika Rani Ray.
