State-Level Training on Social Media Strategy and Public Communication Held

Balasore, Oct 15 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty):
A state-level orientation meeting on Social Media Strategy and Public Communication was held today at 11 a.m. under the chairmanship of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha. The session aimed to enhance understanding and operational skills related to effective media and social media management, keeping in view the upcoming Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the electoral rolls.

All District Information and Public Relations Officers (DIPROs) participated in the programme through video conferencing. This year’s revision campaign is expected to be one of the most extensive exercises since 2007.

During the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer emphasized that maintaining an accurate and inclusive voter list is of utmost importance. The revision process will involve house-to-house verification, deletion of names of deceased and ineligible voters, and ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the list.

The DIPROs were instructed to play a proactive role in disseminating accurate information among the public, countering misinformation and rumours, creating awareness through social media, issuing regular press notes, preparing infographics, and engaging with media houses, television channels, and neutral influencers to spread awareness.

The officials were also advised to document the experiences and opinions of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Block Level Agents (BLAs), and to promote public awareness about the use of the ECI Net App for voter-related services.
