Story-based videos on Lord Jagannath’s traditions released on Makar Sankranti
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the Shree Jagannath Sanskruti Prachar Sansthan released story videos on Lord Jagannath’s traditions.
The event held to mark the anniversary of the business establishment of its member Deepak Raut witnessed the official release of story-based videos highlighting important traditions of Lord Jagannath.
Under the coordination of Shree Jagannath culture promoter Dr. Narayan Mohapatra and organisation member Subash Jagati, videos depicting Darubrahma Lord Jagannath’s Pakhala Bhoga, the Paita Lagi ritual performed at the Srimandir, and the sacred Baisi Pahacha were released on YouTube.
The videos were created using Artificial Intelligence technology, blending tradition with modern digital presentation.
Speaking on the significance of the occasion, the organisers highlighted that Makar Sankranti marks the Sun God’s transition into Uttarayana, symbolising a shift from negativity to positivity and signifying new beginnings. The day is considered highly sacred in Hindu belief, with bathing at Gangasagar believed to confer great spiritual merit.
The event also recalled traditional practices associated with Makar Sankranti, such as the consumption of sesame and jaggery-based sweets, symbolising health, purity, and sweetness in relationships.
Several dignitaries and supporters were present at the release ceremony, including Mamata Rani Raut, Urmila Jagati, Renubala Raut, Dillip Raut, Suresh Beg, and Biranchi Mohanty, who extended their cooperation in making the event successful.
