Sweet shops raided in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): Multiple raids were conducted at sweet shops in Bhubaneswar, particularly in Chandrasekharpur area by the Food Safety Department due to reports of unhygienic conditions and stale sweets being sold. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials seized and disposed of the stale sweets and steam. This action is part of the ongoing effort to ensure food safety and hygiene in the city, especially after a diarrhoea outbreak in some areas.

The authorities have been conducting raids on food outlets in Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, and Cuttack to assess hygiene standards amid the diarrhoea outbreak. The BMC has been collecting food samples for testing and fining restaurant owners for not maintaining quality.

Some hotels have also been sealed recently for serving low-quality food and water.
