Two dead, three critically injured in firecracker blast in Boudh

Boudh(By Abhishek Mohanty): A powerful explosion rocked Jiakata-Chhatrapur village in Puruna Cuttack area of Boudh district on Sunday, claiming the lives of two persons and leaving three others critically injured.

The blast occurred in a building allegedly being used as an illegal firecracker godown, where firecrackers were reportedly stored and manufactured. 

The explosion caused the roof of the building to collapse, leading to the fatalities and injuries.

The intensity of the blast damaged nearby shops and houses, sparking panic among villagers who fled their homes fearing further explosions.

Fire services and police personnel promptly reached the spot and rescued the injured.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and the alleged illegal operation of the godown.
