Vijaya Kumar Tiwari, an eminent Hindi writer, veteran literary critic, poet, novelist, and respected book reviewer, passed away today following a massive cardiac arrest. His sudden demise has sent a wave of grief through literary circles across the country.
A native of Uttar Pradesh, Tiwari was known for his sharp critical insight, deep engagement with Hindi literature, and an uncompromising commitment to literary values. Over decades, his essays, reviews, poems, and novels enriched contemporary Hindi discourse and guided generations of readers and writers alike. He was widely admired for his intellectual integrity and generous encouragement of emerging voices.
After retiring from government service, he had been residing permanently in Bhubaneswar with his family. He remained actively connected with literary life and was a well-wisher of PLF and the Shrikhetra Literary Festival, offering guidance and support to literary initiatives in Odisha.
His passing is an irreparable loss to Indian literature. He will be remembered for his scholarship, humility, and lifelong devotion to the written word.
