Worker dies in mishap during BPCL gas pipeline repair work

Cuttack (06/12/2024): A worker allegedly died in a mishap during BPCL gas pipeline repair work near Taladanda along the Cuttack-Paradip road on Friday. The worker entered inside a sump during the gas pipeline repair work of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). He became unconscious after some time.

Though he was rescued after two hours by the fire service personnel, he was found dead. Other workers alleged that the man died due to asphyxiation inside the sump. The worker was asked to enter inside the sump as part of the repair work.

He entered the sump after covering his nose and ears with a piece of cloth.

However, he collapsed immediately after entering the sump.
