20TH DHAULI-KALINGA MAHOTSAV BEGINS
Bhubaneswar(09/02/2024): The 20th edition of Dhauli - Kalinga Mahotsav jointly organized by Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture, Government of Odisha and Orissa Dance Academy in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi and Art Vision.
The main objective for organization of this festival is to preserve, promote and popularize the heritage at the national and international level.
The festival is a unique confluence of more than 200 artistes belonging to various art forms of Indian dance tradition and it celebrates unity in diversity.
This festival is organized from February 9 to 11, 2024 at the foothill of Dhauli Shanti Stupa, Bhubaneswar.
The festival was Live in DD-Bharat and repeat telecasted in DD-Odia Channel. The first programme of the inaugural evening was Music Recital by Rupak Kumar Parida, Bhubaneswar.
He sang some beautiful melodious songs like Chap Tilak Sab Chini, Mohe Apne Hi Rang Mein, Maula Tera Noor, Duma Dum Mast Kalandar and Rashke Qamar.
He was accompanied with Bikashit Sahoo on Drums, Nikunja Bihari Samal on Tabla, Dwitikrisha Panda on Dholak, D.Shuresh Patro on Guitar, Chandrakanta Tripathy on Keyboard and Samya Ranjan Joshi on Flute.
A soothing mellifluous voice and an inherent ability to quickly pick up and retain the intricate passages of a composition has made Rupak mark a niche for himself as a sought after singer. Second programme was Odissi dance by artistes from Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar founded by Padma Shri Guru Gangadhar Pradhan and now led and nurtured by Padma Shri Dr.Aruna Mohanty, one of the finest dancers and choreographers in the field of Odissi.
They presented Jaati Nandi Ghosha was the cultural representation of the glorious journey of Odisha's journey through millenniums.
Through this dance they were presented the 3000 years of history, heritage, tradition, art, craft, language, literature and lifestyle.
The script was prepared by Kedar Mishra, music composed by Guru Ramhari Das & Agnimitra Behera, rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain & Ajaya Kumar Choudhury and dance was choreographed by Guru Dr.Aruna Mohanty.
The dance was mesmerized the audience who were engrossed by the enchanting presentation of the production. Evening last presentation was Raibanshe Dance by Sarabhuja Dance Theatre, Midnapore led by Guru Dr.Tarun Pradhan.
Raibenshe, a folk martial dance form which evolved from ancient martial art practiced by the ancient soldiers for physical as well as mental training.
The dance accompanied with wild yells of men and punctuated with gestures that suggest drawing of bows from the quiver, throwing of spears, brandishing of knives and flourishing of swords, scimitar.
The dance was Choreography directed by Guru Dr.Tarun Pradhan. The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Debiprasanna Pattnaik, Odia Literature Scholar; Sujata R.Karthikeyan, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Odia Language, Literature, Culture Department; Sudarsan Pattnaik, President, Odisha Lalit Kala Academy, Sulochana Das, Mayor, Bhubaneswar; Dilip Routray, Director, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department; Guru Dr.Aruna Mohanty, Secretary, Orissa Dance Academy.
The programme was anchored by Dr.(En.) Srinivas Ghatuari and Nazia Alam .
