Alumni Council Observes World Environment Day with Tree Plantation Drive

Balasore, 15/06 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Alumni Council of Khannanagar Regional High School (South) organized a tree plantation and awareness campaign at the Khannanagar Cricket Ground, under Sadar Block.
Former Zilla Parishad Chairperson Umilata Das inaugurated the programme as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering of villagers and former students. She emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and collective action.
Prominent attendees included social worker Gopal Padhiari, senior advocate Bijay Das, Council President Jaladhar Samal, Advisor Hemendra Bugudei, Editor Sudhakar Sethi, and senior council members and well-wishers like Ajay Das, Anil Ranjan Jena, Satyabrata S, Sabitri Rani Das, Sabyasachi Pradhan, Janmejaya Jena, Pranab Prakash Das, Biswajit Sethi, Nityananda Mishra, Prafulla Mallik, Smrutiranjan Puhan, and Dibyaranjan Mallik.
Local villagers including Gajendra Mallik, Shambhua Dalei, and Tutu Dalei also participated enthusiastically and joined in the plantation activity.
Council President Mr. Samal highlighted the vision of the Alumni Council during the awareness camp, appealing for a plastic-free environment. He announced their future plan to plant 50,000 saplings.
More than ten Baula (wood apple) trees and five Banyan trees were planted at the Khannanagar Cricket Ground. Responsibility for the care and maintenance of these trees has been entrusted to the local villagers.
