Around 29,000 suicides registered in 5 years: Odisha Chief Minister
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): In the last five years, 29,051 people have died by suicide in Odisha.
This was informed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in response to a question by MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Balabantaray.
According to the Chief Minister, in 2020, 5,482 suicides were reported. In 2021, the number rose to 5,649.
In 2022, it further increased to 6,140.
In 2023, there were 5,989 cases.
In 2024, so far, 5,791 people have died by suicide.
