Autobiography of Dr. Srikanta Charan Patra Released by Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad

Balasore, Nov 17 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The autobiography of noted literary scholar Dr. Srikanta Charan Patra, titled 'Subarnarekha Kule Mo Jibana: Kete Katha Kete Byatha', was released at a special event organised by the Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad at Kabitirtha Shantikanan. The ceremony presided over by the Parishad President, Dr. Subas Chandra Patra.

Chief guest Dr. Debashish Patra praised Balasore’s distinguished place in Odia prose writing and highlighted Dr. Patra’s exceptional contribution to the field. He remarked that the book captures the rare insights the author gathered during his lifelong engagement with people, characters and stories.

Guest speaker and critic Dr. Radhagobinda Koila observed that only those who rise above personal hardship and dedicate themselves to the welfare of others can truly experience the divine. Dr. Patra, he said, has absorbed life’s struggles and distilled them into the enriching narrative of this autobiography.

Publisher Dr. Kalipada Panda shared the challenges he faced during the production of the book, adding that bringing it to readers gave him deep satisfaction.

In his author’s note, Dr. Patra reflected on his memories and described how the Subarnarekha River has shaped the life, culture and identity of the region. He noted with concern that the river, once vibrant, is now fading, and expressed how this book attempts to record its influence on his life for future generations.

Writer and long-time friend Surjya Nandi, editor of a well-known fifty-year-old magazine, described Dr. Patra as a bridge between Bengali and Odia literature and fondly recalled their longstanding association.

Earlier, editor Dr. Ratnakar Singh delivered the introductory remarks, and Rajesh Giri invited the dignitaries to the stage. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Kalyani Nanda.
