An Evening Dedicated to Poet Prasanta Das Held on the Fourth Day of Bhasha Pakshya by Odia Bhasha Bikash Andolan
Balasore, 26/02 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): On the fourth day of Bhasha Pakshya and the Kutir Book Fair organized by the Odia Bhasha Bikash Andolan, a special literary evening was dedicated to poet Prasanta Das.
The programme was presided over by fiction writer Nibaran Jena. Young researcher Lopamudra Das, poet Madhusudan Mishra, and Subhashree Dash joined as speakers and discussed the overall literary contributions of Prasanta Das.
The speakers observed that his poetry reflects love and romance, deep human sensitivity, and a strong note of devotion to mother and motherland.
In his address, poet Prasanta Das said that words and emotions accumulated in the subconscious mind often find sudden expression as poetry on paper. He remarked that poetry bearing the distinct signature of a poet alone becomes timeless.
Poets Srideb, Dr. Ratnakar Singh, Geetanjali Satpathy, Dr. Samarballabh Bhoi, Trinath Nandi, and Jumarnath Patra recited poems on the occasion.
The president of OBBA, Dr. Choudhury Satyabrata Nanda, spoke about the objectives of the festival. Litterateur Dr. Kailash Pattnaik presented his views on the creative works of Prasanta Das. A poem written by Dr. Laxmikanta Tripathy based on the poet’s life and works was rendered by Kalyani Nanda.
Joint Secretary Jumarnath Patra invited the guests to the stage, while General Secretary Dr. Tripathy delivered the concluding remarks.
Among those present were Pradeep Chatterjee, Sarat Kumar Mahapatra, Rajendra Raut, Dr. Laxman Charan Biswal, Sanjay Kumar Panda, Kabita Jena, Archana Kar, Lambodar Nayak, Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Pranita Mishra, Narendranath Panigrahi, Prafulla Kumar Das, Rashmita Parida, Rajasmita Sahu, Anisha Nayak, Urmila Nayak, Bhaskar Chandra Mishra, Pitambar Behera, Deepak Das, Basanti De, Avanti Pradhan, Ramakanta Mohanty, Karunakar S., Sudipta Kumar Sahu and many other literary personalities.
