Basanta Kumar Satpathy’s 33rd Shraddhotsav Observed by Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad
Balasore, 21/2 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The 33rd Shraddhotsav of eminent storyteller Basanta Kumar Satpathy was observed at Kavitirtha Shantikanan under the auspices of the Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Subas Chandra Patra, President of the Parishad. Joining as the chief guest, Dr. Santosh Kumar Nayak, Head of the Department of Odia Language and Literature at Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, remarked that the reflection of personal anguish was the primary source of Basanta Satpathy’s narrative consciousness.
Dr. Patra, in his presidential address, stated that storytelling and humorous writing became Basanta Satpathy’s lifelong pursuit as an attempt to transcend sorrow and suffering.
In his introductory remarks, Dr. Ratnakar Singh, Secretary of the Parishad, observed that while humour appeared to be the visible aspect of his stories, the inner core of his writings reflected a deep compassion for life, the world, and humanity.
Several intellectuals and literary figures of Balasore were present at the meeting. Surajit Satpathy, the younger son of Basanta Kumar Satpathy, also attended the programme.
