BJD Delegation Meets Sundargarh Collector to Address Key Infrastructure and Healthcare Issues

Sundargarh, Odisha – May 8, 2025 : A delegation from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), led by senior party leader Sri Jay Narayan Tripathy, met with District Collector and Magistrate Shri Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, IAS, to discuss pressing infrastructure and healthcare concerns affecting the district. The delegation included former Sundargarh Municipality Chairperson Sri Benudhar Tandia, senior BJD leader Sri Ashok Mohanty, and other local representatives.
During the meeting, the BJD leaders submitted a memorandum highlighting several critical issues:
Widening of Sankara Road: The delegation emphasized the need to expand Sankara Road to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity for residents and commuters.
Installation of Street Lighting on SH-10 Bypass: They requested the installation of adequate lighting along the bypass road from Biju Patnaik Square to Hotel Ambiance on State Highway 10 to enhance road safety during nighttime.
Availability of MRI Services: The leaders urged that MRI services at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sundargarh be made available on all working days to ensure timely diagnostics for patients.
Provision of Indoor Services at GMCH: They advocated for the establishment of indoor patient services at GMCH to reduce the need for referrals to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla, thereby providing more accessible healthcare within the district.
Collector Mahajan acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the delegation of prompt action. He stated that the district administration would coordinate with relevant departments to address the infrastructure issues and explore feasible solutions for enhancing healthcare services at GMCH.
The meeting reflects the BJD's ongoing commitment to addressing local development challenges and improving public services in Sundargarh.
