Department of English in School of Liberal Arts at XIM University celebrates International Mother Language Day

Bhubanewar (22/02/2025): The Department of English, School of Liberal Arts at XIM University(Bhubaneswar), celebrated International Mother Language Day to honour linguistic diversity and the cultural richness found in native languages.

The event spanned three days and included "Swaranjali," a singing competition in vernacular languages, and "Abhivykati," a poster-making competition.

The three day celebration ended on February 21 with an event inaugurated by Dr.V.Vijay Kumar, the Dean, School of Communications, XIM University.

Sahitya Akademi Awardee, Dash Benhur , the chief guest, delivered the key note address.

The event started by offering a tribute to the rich culture and linguistic heritage of Odisha, students presented the state anthem Vande Utkala Janani.

The highlight of the keynote address insisted on the significance of preserving and promoting linguistic diversity.

Various cultural performances like Odishi, Bengali folk dance set the perfect tone for the event, encapsulating the essence of cultural heritage through music.

It served as a tribute to the power of mother tongues, recognizing them as more than just a means of communication but as vessels of history, heritage, and identity performance.

The celebration concluded with the result announcement and prize distribution ceremony.

International Mother Language Day Observation served as a reminder of the significant role language plays in shaping our identities and communities, leaving the audience inspired to cherish and promote their mother tongues.
