Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad Observes the Birth Anniversary of Padma Shri Laxminarayan Sahu

Balasore, Oct 5 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): The 136th birth anniversary of Padma Shri Laxminarayan Sahu was observed at the Fakir Mohan Sahitya Parishad Hall.
The meeting, presided over by Dr. Subash Chandra Patra, President of the Parishad, was attended by distinguished guests and speakers Dr. Shirish Chandra Jena and Dr. Laxmikant Tripathy, both former Presidents of the Parishad.
In his address, Dr. Jena described Laxminarayan Sahu as “a philosopher of the soil,” who dedicated his entire life to the welfare of society—offering the shade of his tireless labor like a tree, without expecting any fruit in return.
Dr. Tripathy, in his speech, said that Sahu was a pioneer and pathfinder in many areas of literature and social thought. “Like a rudraksha bead pierced for the thread to pass through, he himself endured the pain to make way for others,” he remarked. Though the author of many books, Sahu’s work Kalindi Kamila demonstrates how a fallen character can evolve into a model of virtue—an ideal that he gifted to society.
Earlier, Secretary Dr. Ratnakar Singh delivered the introductory remarks, while Joint Secretary Rajesh Giri invited the guests to the dais. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Joint Secretary Kalyani Nanda.
Among those present were Sarat Mohapatra, Niranjan Raut, Padmalochan Dutta, Tapan Ray, Madhusudan Majhi, Jumar Nath Patra, Karunakar Sa, Bidyadhar Sahu, Jyotsna Ray, Avanti Pradhan, Basanti De, and several other intellectuals and writers who gathered to pay homage to the great literary figure, Laxminarayan Sahu.
