Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday held discussions with the representatives of three private banks-ICICI, Axis and HDFC- at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.
The Chief Minister advised the three banks to improve loan disbursal under various welfare schemes to benefit the poor people.
The bank representatives assured the Chief Minister that they are committed to improving their performance and will take appropriate steps to ensure increased loan coverage under the mentioned schemes.
The performance of these three banks in Odisha was unsatisfactory in schemes such as agricultural loans, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), PM SVANidhi, Stand-Up India, housing loans, education loans and export credits.
Keeping this in view, the state government had removed these banks from its empanelled list on June 21.
