Kolkata's famous light gate to be major attraction of Ekamra Raja Ganesh Puja; 25-feet Lord Ganesh idol to be adorned with silver ornaments

Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty): With the blessings of Lord Shri Shri Shri Lingaraj Mahaprabhu, the “Ekamra Raja Charitable Trust” is gearing up to organise the Ekamra Raja Ganesh Puja at the Debi Mandap located at Badheibanka Chhak, Old Town in Bhubaneswar. 

A preparatory meeting was recently held in this regard.

Following the rituals, the ‘Badu Sevaks’ (traditional temple servitors) of Lord Lingaraj will bring the Agyanmala (divine garland of permission) and the puja will be conducted accordingly.

A large number of devotees are expected to gather to fulfill their wishes, and on the day of Ganesh Puja, prasad will be distributed to 20,000 people. 

In the evening, there will be a devotional music program (bhajan samaroh) by Shreecharan Mohanty and team.

As part of this year’s Ekamra Raja Mahotsav, musical performances will be held each evening

On 28th, Odisha’s renowned singer Kuldeep Pattnaik will present on his performance.
On 29th, Ira Mohanty and on 30th, Umakanta Barik will perform.

Similarly, Asima Panda, along with other eminent artists and their teams will be showcasing their performances on August 31.


This year, a light gate designed by famous Chandan Nagar artists from Kolkata will be displayed near the mandap. 

For children, events like Meena Bazaar and Ram Doli rides will be organised.

The 25-foot idol of Lord Ganesh will be adorned with silver ornaments. 

During the Ganesh immersion festival, there will be traditional musical and cultural performances such as
Nashik Dhol,Dragon dance from Kolkata,
Kerala traditional instruments,Western Odisha tribal folk dance (Kalarapat),Ghanta Badya from Sambalpur, Nagaa from Puri,
Brass band from Berhampur and
Horse dance from Balakati.


These vibrant programs will be presented as part of the celebration. 

The event was attended by the Trust’s President Amiya Dash, Secretary and Corporator Shiba Prasad Behera, and other members. 

On this occasion, the Ekamra Raja Ganesh Puja booklet was launched.
