Lady journalist among two killed in road accident

Two women, including a journalist, were killed after a bus rammed into a scooter near Mangalpur Chhak under Pipili police limits in Puri district on Tuesday.

Sources said the accident occurred when a speeding bus hit the scooter, leaving both riders critically injured.

Journalist Sheela Pattnaik died on the spot due to the impact. The other woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed during treatment. Her identity is yet to be ascertained.

The mishap triggered panic in the area as locals gathered at the spot. On receiving information, police reached the scene and launched an investigation.
Police said an inquiry is underway to determine whether rash or negligent driving led to the fatal accident.
