Low pressure over Bay of Bengal in 48 hours

Bhubaneswar (06/04/2025): The upper air cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood extends up to middle tropospheric level.

Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the south Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of fairly widespread to light to mderate rainfall over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Isolated thuderstorms, lightning, gusty winds (speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph), and heavy rainfall are likely today.

Squally weather with wind speed 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph may prevail over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal during April 6 to 9.
