Mission Shakti gets new identity in Odisha; dress code, smartphones announced

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): The Odisha government has announced a major revamp of the Mission Shakti programme, aimed at further strengthening women empowerment across the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday said that Mission Shakti will be given a new identity, including a change in dress code for its members.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the new dress code will be implemented from Utkal Divas, symbolising a fresh beginning for the flagship women empowerment initiative. The move is expected to bring greater uniformity, improved recognition, and a renewed sense of pride among Mission Shakti members.

In another major announcement, Parida said that women associated with Mission Shakti will be provided with smartphones and official identity cards. The initiative aims to enhance digital connectivity, improve communication, and ensure better access to government services.

The smartphones will help women carry out financial transactions, use digital payment platforms, access welfare schemes, and promote self-help group activities more effectively.

Similarly, the ID cards will serve as official identification, facilitating smoother coordination with government departments and financial institutions.
