National Wildlife Protection Week Observed by ‘Moon Communication’ at Balasore

Balasore, Oct 8 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty):

The social organization Moon Communication observed National Wildlife Protection Week in Balasore with a series of awareness activities.

As part of the week-long program, a bicycle rally on wildlife conservation was organized under the leadership of Moon Communication Secretary Abani Kumar Jena, covering the villages of Ranasahi, Hidigaon, Saragaon, and Gudu Gram Panchayat.

Participants including Jaladher Behera, Rajendra Behera, Jagannath Behera, Kartik Chandra Nayak, Surya Prasad Mohanty, and Ambika Prasad Nayak urged the public to protect forests and expand green cover through large-scale tree plantation to safeguard wildlife habitats.

Considering the rise in snakebite deaths during the monsoon in rural areas, people were advised not to fall prey to superstition and to seek immediate medical help in case of snakebite.

At Mahishali Muhana, a special awareness program was held on the protection of the blue-blooded horseshoe crab, where guest speaker Murali Dhar Mohanty discussed its unique lifestyle and highlighted ways to reduce human-induced deaths caused by fishing nets.

Members of several youth organizations actively supported and participated in the event.
