No liquor shops on Bada Danda: Minister

Puri(By Abhishek Mohanty): Odisha ​Law Minister Pithviraj Harichandan said that there will be no liquor shops on Bada Danda (Grand Road) in Puri.

The Minister informed that the decision aims at protecting the sanctity of the Srimandir area.

There will be no liquor shops within a 1 km radius of the Srimandir and on the Bada Danda.

The sale of non-vegetarian food will be stopped on the Bada Danda and the small roads connecting to it.
​The goal is to protect spirituality and ensure that no Tamasik (non-pious or objectionable) activities remain near the temple.

The policy to stop liquor sales will be strictly implemented once the new policy comes into force, added Harichandan.
