ODISHA'S BANITA PADHI ELECTED AS CHAIRPERSON OF AICB NATIONAL BLIND WOMEN’S FORUM
Bhubaneswar (02/11/2023): Banita Padhi of Aska in Ganjam district of Odisha has been elected to the post of Chairperson of AICB National Blind Women’s Forum in New Delhi. Madam/Sir, Banita, a 100 % visually impaired lady is presently working as a craft teacher at Red Cross School for the Blind in Baliguda of Kandhamal district under Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disability (SSEPD) department.
She is the first visually impaired lady of the state to be elected as a National leader.
She is a symbol of independent and inclusivity ready to contribute towards empowerment of visually impaired women by brining policy reforms in the field of their social inclusion and economic rehabilitation.
The role of such a silent social worker towards the disprivileged visually impaired women community will create a new milestone development in the entire country.
Banita will take certain progressive steps to fulfill immediate basic needs of Roti, Kapada, Makhan of the visually impaired women.
The ability well preserved within her disability should be celebrated across the country.
Banita said “I will teach the visually impaired women not only about their rights and entitlements but also self defense skills to face the life with courage and confidence.” She said conducting sensitization workshop for empowerment of adolescent girls with visual impairment will be my top priority .
