Paradip Port sets new cargo handling record
Bhubaneswar (By Abhishek Mohanty):
Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has made a strong start to 2026 by achieving its highest-ever cargo handling in the month of January, registering 14.44 million metric tonnes (MMT). This surpasses the previous January record of 14.32 MMT set in 2024.
The achievement reinforces Paradip Port’s status as one of India’s leading major ports and reflects the steady growth of its operational capacity.
According to port officials, the improved performance is the result of sustained infrastructure development, efficient planning, and better coordination among terminals and stakeholders.
The increased cargo volumes also highlight the dedication and efficiency of the port workforce, which has consistently delivered strong results despite rising demand and growing complexities in maritime trade.
Paradip Port Authority Chairman P. L. Haranadh attributed the milestone to the strategic leadership of Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, and the collective efforts of officers, employees, contractual workers, and port stakeholders.
He said the port remains committed to modernization, capacity expansion, and operational excellence to support India’s expanding trade and economic growth.
The record-breaking January performance has set a positive momentum for the months ahead as Paradip Port moves closer to its goal of becoming a world-class mega port.
