‘Samatar Chandere Jivanar Joigaan’ to pay homage to Ambedkar 1200 students to  perform Borgeet, Dashavatar Nritya and Bhortal dances

Guwahati:  Valmiki Sangeet Vidyalaya, run by the city-based Dr Hedgewar Memorial Trust, organises a spectacular cultural event  titled  ‘Samatar Chandere Jivanar Joigaan’ (Joy of Living with Rhythm of Equality) on Sunday (8 December 2024)  starting at 4 pm in Assam Cricket Association stadium,  Barsapara. With an aim to honour the revered constitution-maker  Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (14 April 1891-6 December 1956), the Vidyalaya has been  organizing this cultural event for the last few  years. The initiative is taken not only to pay homage to Dr Ambedkar on his death anniversary, but also to enlighten the citizens on their duties & responsibilities as mentioned in the Constitution.

Approximately 1200 students of the Vidyalaya, along with over 100 children from different parts of the city will perform Borgeet, Dashavatar Nritya and Bhortal dances during the event. Mentionable is that the institution has taken a noble mission to visit nearly 21 slum-areas of Guwahati  inhabited by sanitation workers regularly and provide training to the children living in there on Borgeet, Sattriya & Bhortal and folk dances, patriotic songs, and modern Assamese melody. Through various programs, the Vidyalaya strives to foster the cultural development of the children of sanitation workers in the city.

Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the chief guest where Dr Krishna Gopal Sharma, Saha Sarkaryavah of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will deliver the keynote address in the function. Religious leaders from various faiths, Satradhikars, eminent writers, artists, educationists, sanitation workers and citizens from various fields will also grace the occasion. Dr Hedgewar Memorial Trust president Dr Bhupesh Chandra Sharma and secretary Khagen Saikia, Valmiki Sangeet Vidyalaya principal Ananya Talukder  and celebration committee chairman Ram Singh have invited everyone to enjoy the event and pay respect to the great social reformer through different cultural programs.
