Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign Observed across Kharagpur Division, Including Balasore Station :Theme of the Day: “Swachh Ahaar”

Balasore, Oct 9 (Krushna Kumar Mohanty): As part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign – 2025, a special cleanliness drive on the theme “Swachh Ahaar” was conducted on Thursday across all major stations under Kharagpur Division, including Kharagpur, Santragachi, Shalimar, Balasore, Panskura, Mecheda and other important stations.

The focus of the drive was to ensure cleanliness and hygiene in canteens, base kitchens, food stalls, and catering units located within and around station premises. Intensive cleaning of cooking areas, utensil washing zones, and garbage disposal points was carried out to achieve sustainable improvement in sanitation and hygiene standards.

Food vendors, cooks, and canteen staff were sensitized about personal hygiene and were also covered under cleanliness and medical check-up drives. Awareness sessions were held to emphasize the importance of waste segregation at source, and separate dry and wet dustbins were provided to promote better waste management practices.

Kharagpur Division reiterated its commitment to providing clean surroundings and hygienic food services for passengers in line with the vision of the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Indian Railways’ Swachhata Pakhwada initiative.
