The last journey of the inspiration life partner of a social activist.

By- Bijaya kumar acharya, Balasore:-

My wife Kavita Acharya was alone in my Aradabazar rented house on 27.11.2025 at around 11 am and while worshipping Mahalakshmi, about 85% of her body was burnt. At that time, I had gone to Baisinga on an urgent matter. In the meantime, Kabita Mahalik, a woman who works in my house every day, came and saw my wife lying naked on the floor, burnt and informed me on the phone and called a neighbor lady, Barsha Panda. After that, Barsha called 108 ambulances. I, my colleagues, Er. Radharaman Dalai, Issan Kumar Sahu, Sushant Kumar Nayak, Subhendu Giri etc. reached there.

When I asked my wife to explain, she said that while worshipping Thakur, she was burnt by a match stick fire and even though she screamed, no one heard her. However, I called out to the factory workers who were working next to our rented house and asked them if they could help, but they said they couldn't hear him because of the loud noise from their factory. After that, we took an ambulance to Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital. Since there was no burn department or neurosurgery department there, we were sent to Cuttack Shriram Chandra Bhanj Medical College and Hospital. Since there was no ICU in the burn department there, the doctor advised us to take him to a different hospital. As I am an ordinary social worker and a senior citizen, I have no opportunity to save anything except for the rent, food, medicine expenses of my wife and myself and other daily expenses on my low income. I also don't have any health insurance. My only married daughter lives far away from me in Cuttack.

Since I could not afford to take him to a private hospital, I was forced to take him to the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Bhubaneswar. The doctor advised me to take him outside as there was no ICU in the burn department. I was prepared to take him to Sushrut Hospital after getting the assurance of my friends. Finally, on the night of 28.21.2025, at 4 am, he left me in the red zone of the AIIMS Ashu Medical Department and went to Jagannath's shelter forever. On 28.21.2025, his last rites were performed at Havatdwara in Puri.

Truly, he is my friend with a big heart. Her generous attitude, loving, and sincere nature can only be felt by those who have seen her. If I have become a social worker, he is the source of my inspiration. He has never lavished me with jewels, ornaments, houses, horses or any other material possessions as a wife. He eats delicious food at home and is happy to feed others. He has never asked me to eat at an expensive hotel or restaurant. He loves to eat dahibara, gupchub, chaat, telbhaji, rolls, chowmein in this market or asks me to bring it home. From Achandal Brahmins to tribals, Harijans, people of all religions enter our kitchen without any hesitation. He is truly a sadhvi's heart-warming person.  She prays to God to take him to the world with only my long life and asks me to make her earthly body auspicious at the gate of the grave (Swargadwara), Puri. Her only daughter Mansi set fire Mukhagni lit her face and her sons of many cases and colors carried her on their shoulders and completed her last journey.
I believe that Mahalakshmi, while worshipping her on Thursday, listened to her prayers and took her to Jagannath. She made me a sannyasin from Babaji and went to heaven. May her sublime soul remain with Jagannath.
Jai Jagannath.
