Unseasonal rain declared natural disaster in Odisha, announces CM
Bhubaneswar(03/01/2025): Unseasonal rain has been declared as natural disaster in Odisha, announced Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the 'Krushi Odisha' programme at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The Chief Minister said, "As many as 6.66 lakh farmers affected by unseasonal rain will get Rs 291.59 crore compensation.
Compensation to 6,66,720 lakh farmers, including 2.61 lakh farmers covered under crop insurance, who have suffered crop loss due to the unseasonal rain, will be given compensation from today through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)." Dedicating the 'Krushak Odisha' event to farmers, the CM emphasised,"Farmers worked hard during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They were in fields while others were at home due to COVID-19 fear.".
