Water bottling unit sealed in Cuttack amid cholera & diarrhoea scare

Cuttack (Abhishek Mohanty): Amid spike in cholera and diarrhoea cases in Odisha, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) sealed a water bottling facility at Shankarpur Dasasahi following allegations that the company was distributing untreated water without adapting proper purification measures.

The health officials of the CMC carried out a surprise inspection and closed down the unit after finding certain violations.
The company was allegedly distributing bottling water to local markets without filtration.

Contaminated water resources are the major contributors to the recent rise in cases.

Yesterday, the CMC officials had raided several hotels and eateries at Station Bazaar area in Cuttack. Two hotels were sealed for unhygienic food practices and bad quality water usage.
