WEEKLONG 34TH PECUC SISUMELA CULMINATED
Bhubaneswar(20/11/2023): A healthy society can be built if the children are well.
Efforts should be made at both the family and school levels to raise children ethically.
A favorable environment should be created to nurture the young mind was said by eminent speakers attending the valedictory function of 34th PECUC Sisumela.
The 34th Children's Festival ‘PECUC Sisumela’ culminated in a vibrant and colorful atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression of joy and creativity.
It added yet another glorious chapter to the history of PECUC Sisumela imprinting smiles and inspiration on the hearts of its audience.
Addressing the closing ceremony Chief Guest Justice Dr.D P Choudhury, Former Judge Odisha High Court said, "We all should work together for the development of children." Subodh Chandra Acharya, Joint Director cum Joint Secretary Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Government of Odisha advised the children to remain grateful to their parents and to take care of them in the old age and the parents also should consider their child’s interest.
Sasmita Nanda and Ruby Biswal, Members OSCPCR, advised the children to nurture and develop their inner talent along with the education.
Dr.N.Tirumal Nayak, Labour Commissioner Odisha, advised the children to build good character and children should work hard to build a better future for them.
Niranjan Sahoo, IAS, (Retd.) encouraged the children and advised them to build their lives according to their own wishes.
Among others Manna Biswas, Child Protection Specialist of UNICEF also spoke on the occasion.
This programme was presided over by President, PECUC Sisumela Committee and Renowned Journalist Prodosh Kumar Pattnaik and Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, PECUC gave the introductory note.
Among others Dr.Minakshi Panda, chairman PECUC, Bandita Das, Joint Secretary, PECUC and Sharmila Sahoo, Member, PECUC spoke on the occasion.
Vote of Thanks was given by Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director PECUC. On this occasion children and adults personalities were honoured with many prestigious annual awards for outstanding performance in different fields.
Senior Journalist Siba Mohanty was honoured with prestigious “Swarup Jena Memorial Award 2023” for outstanding contribution in the field of journalism, where as “Abani Baral Memorial Award 2023” to retired teacher Surendra Kumar Pattnayak for his contribution in the field of teaching, “Sisusathi Award 2023” to Subha Narayan Satpathy for outstanding contribution for children, “Prafulla Chandra Dash Memorial Sisu Adhikar Surakshya Award 2023” to Prasanna Kumar Mishra for his social work, Women PRI Ramalata Nayak was given “Aradhana Nanda Smaraki Samman 2023” for his outstanding work as a people’s representative, “Dr.Sarat Chandra Pujari Memorial Award 2023” to Child Artist Tapas Kumar Sarangi for acting, “Prafulla Chandra Das Memorial Sisu Prativa Award 2023” to Shifa Prizm for all round achievement , “Baji Rout Memorial Award 2023” to Sabitri Nayak for bravery and courageous activity, “Prananath Pattnaik Memorial Award 2023” to a child Rishita Samantaray for social work,” Adaramani Baral Memorial Award 2023” to Sasmita Bhoi for girl leadership, “Sushama Mohapatra Memorial Award 2023” to Priyankaree Muduli for outstanding achievement in the field of sports, Jayana Das was chosen for “Baby of the Year award 2023”.
Winners of the Fancy Dress Competition also received their prizes. Child artists of Cultural groups like Vickey, UDRA, Kokila, Capital High School, Hostel Troupe, Little Star, Purunajhinti adolescent Group, Mahakaleswar, Chetana, Lakshya performed colourful cultural programme.
In this week long children festival help and cooperation was provided by Odia Literature, Language and Culture Department, Government of Odisha, Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar, Unique, AEIN, IMFA, Canara Bank, Orange Wheel, Anita Saree House, Abhishek Garment, Priyadarshini Saree House ,etc.
Ratna Dash, Jyoti Sankar Mohanty, Alpana Das, Upama Mohanty, Binod Kumar Dash, Dr.Sumitra Mohanty of PECUC conducted the programme.
The programme was anchored by Diya Kiran, Soumya Priyadarshi, Adyasha and Arushi.
