Woman killed, 2 critical after speeding car rams into kanwariyas

Salepur (29/07/2024): A woman was killed while two others sustained critical injuries after a speeding car rammed into a group of 37 kanwariyas at Nischintakoili in Cuttack district late on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Chinmayee Behera. The injured, Purna Chandra Behera and Dipti Ranjan Rout, were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. The car driver was detained by police. The group was en route to Siddheswar Mahaveer shrine after lifting water from Babujanga Ghat near Tehsil Chhak at Nischintakoili. After hitting the kanwariyas, the driver of the car lost control and collided with a pickup van.
