AIR POLLUTION LEVEL RISES IN BHUBANESWAR AFTER DIWALI
Bhubaneswar(13/11/2023): The air pollution level in Bhubaneswar rose after Diwali celebration. The morning after Diwali was all smog with the residents left with no option but to breathe the polluted air with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recording between 300 and 400 in many places. A thick blanket of smoke was witnessed on the sky on Diwali night.
An artificial cloud was created over the skies due to pollution from firecrackers. It is particularly because there is no wind flow during November which paves way for the polluting particles to float more time in the air. An AQI value of 50 or below indicates good air quality while an AQI value more than 300 shows hazardous air quality. This happened after unabated explosion of firecrackers during Diwali. Environmentalists stressed on raising awareness among people to minimise the air pollution in Bhubaneswar.
