Ama Buses vandalised in Bhubaneswar after accident

Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty): Tension prevailed on Janpath in Bhubaneswar on Friday after an ‘Ama Bus’ allegedly hit a motorcycle, triggering public anger and vandalism of multiple buses.
Soon after the accident, locals damaged the Ama Bus involved, following which a group of miscreants stopped other Ama Buses in the area and vandalised them. The situation escalated rapidly, forcing bus staff to abandon the vehicles and flee for safety.

Police, including senior officers and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena, rushed to the spot to control the unrest.

Three Ama Buses were ransacked, reports said.

As the crowd turned unruly, police resorted to a mild
lathi charge to disperse the mob and restore normalcy.
Reports indicate that repeated accidents involving Ama Buses in recent months have fueled resentment among city residents.

An eyewitness claimed that even minors were involved in stone-pelting, while bystanders were too afraid to intervene.

Police officials said strict action would be taken against those involved in damaging public property, and efforts are underway to identify the miscreants.
