Bhubaneswar District Campaign: Hundreds of eminent persons join three festivals
Bhubaneswar(By Abhishek Mohanty):
In support of the demand to make Bhubaneswar a separate district, signatures from hundreds of eminent citizens have been collected during three major festivals in the capital city. During the Bhubaneswar Bali Jatra, Ekamra Bali Jatra, and Uttara Mahotsav, many distinguished individuals expressed the opinion that making Bhubaneswar a separate district is absolutely necessary.
Under the leadership of Dr Lingaraj Sahoo, head of the Bhubaneswar District Campaign, prominent personalities such as Dr Rojalin Patasani, Rashmi Mahapatra, and Debabrata Nayak, along with many women and senior citizens, participated in the Uttara Mahotsav.
Similarly, during the two Bali Jatra festivals, many eminent persons also voiced their support for this demand.
Among those who participated were advocate Saroj Kumar Sahoo, Khiroda Kumar Swain, Prafulla Kumar Swain, Sanjukta Acharya, Pranati Pradhan, Archana Mishra, Ashok Patra, Saroj Kumar Sadangi, Trilochan Swain, Pratap Kumar Baral, Subatrata Mishra, Debashish Behera, and Ramesh Chandra Behera.
The collective platform Milita Mahamancha, representing various organizations supporting the campaign, has been gathering signatures from residents of Bhubaneswar’s surrounding villages — including Balipatna, Balianta, and Nakhara — as well as from participants in the Bali Jatra festivals and Bhubaneswar Court for the past two years.
It has been decided that the collected signatures and appeal will soon be submitted to the state government.
